
June 2026 Training Plan
Below you will find two training plans for June and early July designed to prepare you for the start of the cross country season. The most important factor in your success is consistency. Either training plan will be effective if you progress gradually and follow it consistently. The first plan is intended for athletes who previously competed on a high school team or have run consistently for a middle school program. The second is designed for athletes who are new to the sport of running. If you're in town during June, we strongly encourage you to attend as many coach-led practices as possible.

Please use the training posted on the YHS Distance Band App. Complete the training log and return it to the coaches on July 13.

1st Year Athlete
Goal Mileage: Boys 40 MPW, Girls 30 MPW
2nd Year Athlete
Goal Mileage: Boys 45 MPW, Girls 40 MPW
3rd Year Athlete
Goal Mileage: Boys 60 MPW, Girls 45 MPW
4th Year Athlete
Goal Mileage: Boys 70 MPW, Girls 55 MPW
MPW = Miles per week, these indicate peak mileage goals not starting mileage
