Javier Madrid

Head Coach

Competed under current Co-Head Coach Jason Carney at Yucaipa High School from 2004-2008, earning All Citrus Belt League honors in 06’ and 07’ and helped the team win 3 CBL team titles in a row. Also aided the Thunderbirds in making their first CIF Finals appearance in 8 years in the ’07 season. Went on to compete at California Baptist University from 2008-2012 earning All Golden State Athletic Conference honors in 2009 and being the first National Championships qualifier since 2000. Went on to achieve NCCAA All-American honors in the Distance Medley in 2012. Has been coaching at Yucaipa for 10 years and currently teaches Physical Education at Yucaipa High School.

Frank Solis

Assistant Coach 

Graduated from Yucaipa High School in 1997. Is an 8x League Champion, 6x CIF Finalist with a 5th place highest finish and was the 9th place individual point getter at CIF in Swim. Was named San Bernardino Athlete of the week for April 1997 as well as an All American Consideration. Attended Riverside Community College, Crafton Hills, CSU San Bernardino, and University of Redlands. Was a 2x All-American at RCC in 1999 in Swim. Currently in his 16th year teaching PE and is the current Department Chair. Coached swim at Beaumont High School from 2000-2004. Was the assistant swim coach at Yucaipa High School from 2004-2006 before taking over as head coach from 2006-2012. In 2008, coached the YHS boys swim team to the 2008 National Championship. Currently an Assistant Coach for the cross country team and has helped coach multiple League Championships and the CIF runner up girls team in 2016. In his 8th year of coaching cross country.

Ryan Davis

Assistant Coach

Graduated from Yucaipa High School in 2009 and competed under current Co-Head Coach Jason Carney. Ran cross country all 4 years and Track & Field sophomore to senior year. Lettered in cross country his freshman, sophomore, and senior year and was a senior captain. Lettered in T&F all three years in the 400, 800, and 4x400 meter races. Attended Crafton Hills College and Cal Poly Pomona and studied Applied and Pure Mathematics for his Bachelor of Science. Received his teaching credential and Master of Arts in Learning and Teaching at the University of Redlands. Started teaching and coaching at Beaumont High School in 2017. Started the Archery program at BHS and coached the team for a second-place finish at the National level. Currently teaches math and has coached at Yucaipa High School for 3 years. Is an assistant Cross-Country coach and Track & Field middle distance coach.

Kristin Davis

Assistant Coach

Ran cross country her first three years of high school and track the first two. Swam on the swim team for Yucaipa her last two years of high school and played water polo during her senior year. Attended University of California, Santa Barbara and received her Bachelors in Mathematics and went on to the University of Redlands to receive her credential and Master of Arts in Learning and Teaching. Began teaching in 2020 at Rim of the World High School where she was the assistant coach for cross country and the head distance coach for Track and Field. In her second year teaching mathematics at Yucaipa High School.
